Floriade Re-Imagined in Chapman

Thanks to the local Community and some Council members, we have our own part of Floriade in Floriade Re-Imagined at the corner of Streeton Drive and Darwinia Terrace in Chapman.

It is in flower now and has its own group of Scarecrows to keep the birds away.

The Saga of Coppins Crossing

Once more Coppins Crossing was closed to traffic last week.  It may be closed again with rain forecast this week.
Thanks to John Mungoven, a Member of the Weston Creek Community, we have a number of photos which show the debris and the height of the floodwaters over the weekend of the 8th and 9th of August.
This really shows why the high level bridge needs to be brought forward to connect north and south Molonglo as well as to provide another safe road to cross the Molonglo River.

Council opposes Request for Lease Variation On Community Zoned Land

Council has lodged comments opposing the request for a lease variation on Block 1 Section 17 in Coombs [Development Application 202037450] where the space required to be provided to be used by the Community in the original lease will essentially be lost of the Request is agreed to.

CHAOS ON THE PARKWAY AGAIN – bring the Molonglo River High Level Bridge Forward

Coppin’s Crossing closed again by floodwaters, a crash on the Tuggeranong Parkway and traffic heading south stops.  There is no alternate road travelling south across the Molonglo River west of Commonwealth Avenue bridge and a trip through the City.  It is time to bring the construction of the High Level Bridge over the Molonglo River forward.  Read Council’s further letter to Minister Steel.
