TCCS has advised construction of the long-awaited signalisation of the Hindmarsh Dr/Brierly St intersection will commence on 24 April 2024
Construction commencement
New traffic lights are being installed at the intersection of Hindmarsh Drive and Brierly Street to improve road safety.
In addition to new traffic lights, this project will also deliver a reduced speed limit of 60 km/h on an approximately 800-metre section of Hindmarsh Drive from east of Brierly Street to west of Carbeen Street.
This project is funded under the Australian Government’s Black Spot Program.
Upcoming changes
Site establishment commenced earlier this month with roadworks to get underway from Monday 24 April 2023. Works will be carried out as dayworks only between the hours of 7am and 5pm Monday to Friday. If required, limited work may be undertaken on weekends between 8am and 5pm.
The following changes will be in place whilst roadworks are underway.
- There will be single lane closures in both directions on Hindmarsh Drive through the intersection between 9.30am and 4pm during construction (as required). These lane closures are required for the safety of both our workers and members of the community. In addition, there will be no right turn movements at the intersection during work hours.
- No vehicles longer than eight-metres will be able to enter and exit Brierly Street at the Hindmarsh Drive intersection until works at the intersection are complete. Advance warning and detour signage will be in place.
Pedestrian access will always be maintained however temporary detours may be in place at times to safely facilitate access around the construction works.
