What is happening at the gardens ?

It looks all very quiet at the moment, but the working group has been working on funding with the ACT Government and the new name for the old CIT gardens.

The gardens will most likely be called “Fetherston Gardens” in honor of Tony Fetherston though this process still has to be worked through. He was a foundation member of the Australian Institute of Horticulture in Canberra.

When he was head of the School of Horticulture he saw the need and potential for establishing a specialised facility to train people in horticulture. He also saw the benefits that would flow to individuals, the landscape of Canberra and the general community as a result of such a facility being established.

Among his many achievements Tony’s thought that the building of the School of Horticulture, the CIT Weston campus was one of his career highlights.

If you have any more information about the CIT Weston campus or want to be part of the working group please get in touch.

We would love to hear from you.
