The ACT Planning and Land Authority has released draft variation 303 to the Territory Plan that aims to incorporate leading practice solar access provisions into the residential housing development code.
The draft variation seeks to tighten up the rules on overshadowing, ensuring neighbouring blocks get sunlight when it is most needed during winter. The proposed change also includes new rules for secondary residences, sometimes referred to as “granny flats†that will provide greater opportunities for small additional dwellings.
The period for comments on the draft variation closes on 23 August 2010. For more information visit ACTPLA’s website.
