We have a CHANGE OF VENUE FOR OUR PUBLIC MEETINGS FROM THIS MONTH. Council has decided to move our meetings from the Weston Club to St Jude’s Primary School Hall in Mulley Street in Holder. This will provide easy access for those with disabilities, easier parking and the premises to ourselves. It should provide a “better” meeting place for everyone.
We are thankful for the Weston Club providing great support to us over the years for our Public meetings. We will continue our relationship with the Club by holding of our committee Meetings there throughout the year.
The next Public Meeting is to be held on Wednesday 30th September at 7.30 pm and the ACT Police are coming along to speak on crime in Weston Creek and the wider Canberra Community. Come along and listen and ask questions of our Police.
What an afternoon and evening we had with the Farewell to Winter Bonfire Festival. Those who attended appeared to enjoy themselves and we are thankful to ACCESS Canberra for their support in making this possible. Council is exploring how we can continue with this event in the future.
The Minister for Territories and Municipal Services [and a myriad other responsibilities], Mr Shane Rattenbury spoke on various issues at our AGM. It was a real opportunity to come along and ask your questions of the Minister.
Thank you to all of those who are prepared to stand again as Your Committee and work again for our Community. It is appreciated.
Your council has been busy attending meetings with Council of the Ageing and the Basin Priority Project and appearing before the Parliamentary Committee into the proposed division of the “Mr Fluffy” blocks.
If there are issues that you wish to raise or discuss please phone the Council on 62888975. Otherwise to keep up to date with all issues affecting Weston Creek please monitor the Weston Creek Community Council’s website at www.wccc.com.au or follow us on Facebook.
