Isabella Pond in Tuggeranong has been drained in preparation for work to widen the weir and build two new wetlands. Construction of the wetlands – the first of the ACT Healthy Waterways projects to commence – was brought forward to coincide with works on the weir and to minimise disruption for local residents and pond users. Combining the two projects also offered an opportunity to save on engineering and construction costs which includes using pond sediment and spoil from the weir to create the wetlands.
