Canberra forum – Draft National Disability Advocacy Framework

Council has received the email below inviting community engagement on the draft National Disability Advocacy Framework.  We encourage people in the target audience to participate.

The Social Deck is working with the Department of Social Services (DSS) to undertake community engagement on the draft National Disability Advocacy Framework.

We would love for you to share information about this event with your networks.

Disability advocacy helps protect the rights of people with disability by giving them a voice, promoting their interests and protecting their wellbeing.

Registrations are now open for a face-to-face forum in Canberra on Tuesday 28 June from 4-6pm.

We want to hear from:

  • People with disability
  • Families and carers of people with disability
  • Disability advocates
  • Other interested stakeholders.

If people are unable to attend, there are also online events happening – details are available on the DSS Engage website.

People can also write a submission using the submission guide.

About the Framework and consultation

The new draft Framework is a shared commitment to disability advocacy between the federal, state and territory governments to improving access and outcomes for people with disability.

It aims to ensure all people with disability can access advocacy services and support.

It will also help to align advocacy services and standards so they are nationally consistent.

If you’d like to discuss the event, please contact us at engage@thesocialdeck.com

Thank you for your support.

Kind regards,Michelle
