The following letter to Weston Creek residents outlines the latest change to traffic conditions for Cotter Road, Streeton and John Gorton Drives
Dear Resident
As you are aware a number of projects along Cotter Road and adjacent areas are being undertaken over the next three years as part of the infrastructure requirements for the new suburbs in the Molonglo Valley.
Cotter Road will continue to be open however there will be delays due to the following:
- Upgrading the Cotter Road and Streeton Drive Intersection. Expected to commence in July 2013
- Upgrading the Unwin Place and Dixon Drive intersections with Streeton Drive. Expected to commence August 2013
- Upgrading Cotter Road east of Tuggeranong Parkway to Adelaide Ave. Construction has commenced and is due for completion September 2013
Construction of John Gorton Drive – update
- Stage 1D and Stage 2A due for completion July 2014
The areas marked in purple and pink on the map below this letter indicate where the works will be undertaken.
The section of John Gorton Drive north of Steve Irwin Ave (in Wright) will close from 3 June 2013 for approximately four months, to allow for the construction of a new intersection and bridge over Holden’s Creek. Vehicles requiring travel between John Gorton Drive and Uriarra Road should use Steve Irwin Ave and Banjo Patterson Drive.
There will also be a minor, localised traffic diversion of Coppins Crossing Road from June 2013 to allow a section of John Gorton Drive to be constructed. Coppins Crossing Road will remain open at all times.
Your co-operation over the next 18 months is greatly appreciated and we apologise for any inconvenience that this work may cause. As delays will be experienced on Cotter Road during peak times, while this work is being undertaken, you should consider using alternative routes.
