WCCC Update

Want to hear about the next development in Molonglo in Denman Prospect with every house requiring to have solar panels generating electricity? Capital Estates Development will attend our meeting this month and tell us what will be happening here.

Come along to the next Public Meeting is to be held on Wednesday 28th October at 7.30 pm at the St Jude’s Primary School Hall in Mulley Street in Holder. This provides easy access for those with disabilities, easier parking and the premises to ourselves. It provides a “better” meeting place for everyone.

We will also have a briefing on further plans for Public Housing in Weston Creek and Molonglo by the Public Housing Renewal Task Force. This may provide some answers to what is happening with the old Holder Primary School oval. One of Council’s concerns is the continuing loss of green space in our community and building any housing here would be a major loss of green space, particularly in a time of regeneration and younger families in our community as well as many more older people utilising these spaces for exercise.

Last month we had a briefing from the ACT Police speaking on crime in Weston Creek and the wider Canberra Community. This was welcome and those who attended were able to ask a range of questions of our Police.

Council has made a submission to Government for the 2016/17 ACT Budget about issues facing Weston Creek and Molonglo. Our first priority is for the fast tracking of the duplication of the last section of the Cotter Road. You can read the submission by going to our website at www.wccc.com.au

If there are issues that you wish to raise or discuss please phone the Council on 62888975. Otherwise to keep up to date with all issues affecting Weston Creek please monitor the Weston Creek Community Council’s website at www.wccc.com.au or follow us on Facebook.
