ACAT Rejects Village Building Company Proposal for Old AFP Site

Council has received the ACAT decision on the proposed development of the Old AFP site. The appeal has been rejected. Council is pleased that the proponent will now need to develop plans that are consistent with the expectations of the residents for such a gateway site. Continue reading

Temporary Car Park not to proceed at Watling Place

The ACT Government today announced that the temporary Car park proposed for Watling place would not proceed. Council welcomes this decision as the proposed number of car parking spaces was continually reduced to now some 56 spaces which council believes can be found in some adjustment o time limits around Cooleman Court. Development Application Lodged for the Bridge over the Molonglo

Council welcomes the lodgment of the Development Application for the bridge over the Molonglo River in Molonglo. It will be the biggest bridge in the ACT. The cost estimate is $174 million part of which will be funded by the Commonwealth government. Continue reading

Council opposes Request for Lease Variation On Community Zoned Land

Council has lodged comments opposing the request for a lease variation on Block 1 Section 17 in Coombs [Development Application 202037450] where the space required to be provided to be used by the Community in the original lease will essentially be lost of the Request is agreed to.

Development Application lodged for the “Temporary” Car Park at Cooleman Court

Despite Council writing to Minister Steel advising him that the now 65 car park spaces could be found from a review of the current parking in and around Cooleman Court, Government has gone ahead and lodged a Development Application.  We would encourage you to lodge comments on this proposal pointing out that there is no need for it now. UPDATE – Tender open for the new Park and Ride parking spaces at Kirkpatrick Street

The Tender was opened today for the building of an additional 46 car parking spaces at the Kirkpatrick Street Park and Ride.  This will bring the toal number of spaces at this site to 95.
Council welcomes these additional spaces.  The Tender closes on the 26th of May so hopefully these will be in place well before the end of the year.

Village Building Co’s Develeopment Application refused for the “Old AFP Site in Weston”.

The ACT Planning and Land Authority has refused the village Building Company’s Development Application for Block 1 Section 82, the “Old AFP Site” in Weston.
