ACT Basin Priority Project

basin projectCouncil received a second briefing on the ACT Basin Priority project at last Wednesday’s [29 July 15] Public Meeting.  This Project is a joint ACT and Commonwealth Project to improve long term water quality in the ACT and Murrumbidgee River systems.  In essence there are 6 regions being looked at and Weston Creek and Molonglo are part of the Lower Molonglo Catchment Region.  The Project is now looking at what infrastructure projects that can be proposed to improve existing infrastructure or to build new infrastructure.

If you are interested in what may be proposed for Weston Creek and Molonglo and this will include the North Weston Ponds, Weston Creek and the ponds in Coombs, then you should look at the presentation from last weeks meeting [HERE] and attend the drop in session next Tuesday at the Weston Creek Community Centre between 2 and 4 and 6 and 8 pm to share your views on what is important to you for this area.

There is also a Survey being conducted in conjunction with this Project by the University of Canberra on behalf of the ACT Government.  This looks how residents living in the region experience their waterways.  Have your say in this as well by going to www.betterwater.net.au and complete the survey which takes some 15 to 20 minutes
